A Special Tea

We have a dear little friend named Micaela. In early December, my husband and I took her out for a special Christmas tea. I put on my best hat and we enjoyed all the dainties of the Christmas be-decked tea room. Micaela, who has SMA , is a huge anglophile and the smartest reader you would ever care to meet. She is also my little stitching buddy as I taught her to cross stitch. She keeps trying to like the taste of tea, but at 13, she has lots of time to acquire that taste. In the meantime, she loves the scones and the atmosphere! My husband was a great sport to go with us, even though the entire room was pink and he was the only male around. :)

the bill was presented in this sweet little embroidered purse

love the rosebuds on our lemon curd and cream!

Micaela looked elegant in my hat!

What a special day for all 3 of you! Such a lovely place. Love the hat...on you both:) How wonderful of you and dh to take a day to make a young teenage girl feel as special as she surely already is!
Makes my heart smile:)

What a fun time you both obviously had--DH, too! :) My SIL took my daughter to high tea in DC a few years ago. They said it was incredible. Love the hat!
What a lovely treat!

Looks like you had a great time. I must say it looks more english than England! We are more used to greasy cafes. There are one or two around like that though ;-) x
Looks divine and like you all had such a fun, memorable time. Gorgeous yummies - Tanya, trying to eat them through the screen!

Isn't if fun to teach kids crafts? I'm planning to teach my older 4 H kids to knit this spring. Can't wait!

I love seeing this kind of activities. I have a son who is severely disabled and activities in the community are so limited. I've been an advocate for 20 years. May I share your post?

Say hello to Micaela from England and tell her I am a Brit who doesn't like tea! The English tea room looks delightful though and you both look great in your hat!

You look like you all had a great time - here in the UK (at least my bit) the only hat you would see in a tea shop would be a warm woolly one.

What a great post with great pictures! Love the look of that tea room, and the purse. And your husband is a sweetie for spending some time with the girls in a distinctly girly environment. Gorgeous hat, by the way!

How sweet! I just saw this. Your friend was definitely tickled by the tea room and her excellent company. Where is that lovely place? I've never been to a tea room-nudge-wink. : )
